Sunday 30th OCTOBER, 2005 Fingersmiths |
|||
|
Nell's Notes The last time we had a review was on my birthday, so it seems fitting
that I have ago in the same month a year on! |
|||
|
Fingersmiths are (l-r): Mike Trim and Jonathan Potts. |
Following this we had a short break while Finger Smiths (Jonathan Potts and Mike Trim) set up. They played to a full house giving us a song from 'Show of Hands' arranged by Mike, who, and many of you may not know this, used to be their producer. The next set was dedicated to Jonathan's Dog Benson (will he be getting a cat called Hedges, I wonder?). Benson, by the way christened, Jon's new house by leaving a puddle on the floor, which Sandra assures us he doesn't usually do! Jon then led with a beautiful tune called 'The Grasshoppers Dance', followed by a song written by Jon called Lightening Sky and finished the first half with a tune called 'The Butterfly' ... and all this to the heckling by our dear Linda! |

|
While the raffle was under way the second half started with Michelle on recorder and she played us two well-known tunes; Seasons in the Sun and I will Survive by Gloria Gaynor. MacGuinness then took the stage with 'Come to the Hills' accompanied
by John in the audience playing harmonica and then Donegal Lads when they
ask Max, our local Vicar, to join them on Banjo. They've even got their
own website: www.macguinness.bravehost.com |

| Denis Ahern amused us with his self penned 'The Ring on the Finger' based on the saying 'A part of me is with you wherever you go'. This is one of my favourites, but Dennis I still love Canvey Island the best (x!). Dennis also sang another self penned song: General Custer's Second Last Stand. |

Max on Banjo |
Den on Guitar |
Nell and Kathy on them thar box things that make squeeky noises! |
|
|
After this we had Den Edwards singing 'Curtains of Night' by Daryl Adams,
accompanied by Dave O'Neill and Max Blake, then Kath and Nell joined them
for 'May the Circle be Unbroken.' A big well-done goes to Kath who had
never played it before
but the beer helped! |

Les Potts showing how it should be done
|
Finally our penultimate act was by Les Potts singing Road to Hell and Romeo and Juliet. I guess Romeo and Juliet could be the road to hell! I thought Sandra may have a reply to the Road to Hell but she didn't take it up! | ||
|
Fingersmiths started their second spot with 'I don't want
to know about Evil,' is this the reply to his dad's song? |
